Ok, first let me start by saying the Cecilia tried her best to instill this massive fear in me that at any moment, my watch, wallet and camera would all be stolen. As a result, in the downtown area of Rio (Centro) I went a little easy on the photos as I was constantly searching for the evil carioca who wanted to rob me. These photos were taken over the course of a few visits to Centro.

We did not consult the tour
book prior to going to this place. Had we done so, we would have seen quite
clearly that it was closed on Mondays. When we got there, the security
guy told us as much. I wanted to go in there to see the Brasilian currency
exhibition. When we returned a few days later, they told us that the exhibit
was closed for remodeling. THEY COULD HAVE TOLD US THAT THE LAST TIME AND
SAVED US A TRIP !
Anyway.. my father always
says that you shouldn't do anything wrong even if you think no-one will
find out, because SOMEONE you know is always around when you least expect
it. We met a sister of a friend of Cecilia's who gave us a tour of an exhibit
the cultural center was running. She explained everything IN SPANISH so
that I could understand.

The
bidet (notice it looks like the hose many people have on their kitchen
sinks)
I only include this picture
because the picture I took of a nicer bidet in Niteroi was an end-of-roll
thing and didn't come out.
