LOUIS STONE DOES RIO DE JANEIRO

The Tourist Traps (continued)

As I alluded to earlier. The driver's car wasn't working right, so he took us down to the bottom of the hill and we reduced his fare by the amount it should have been to the Sugar Loaf. Of course, it turns out the the cab fare would have been more than double, so we took the bus instead.

We arrived at the Sugar Loaf about an hour later and were impressed to see.. that same little cloud that we saw from the Christ Statue. Certainly the cloud will move, we thought, so we bought our tickets (I don't remember how much, but I think it was R 40) and went to the tram station. The way it works is that you take the tram to a smaller hill and then on to the sugar loaf from there. Ok.. we're on our way now to level one and our little puffy friend is still sitting there.  We arrived at the intermediary hill and began our ascent to the Sugar Loaf. We were awestruck by the view. You can't truly imagine just how truly beautiful Rio is until you have seen her from the Sugar Loaf. Words cannot describe what I saw (at least not words I can print on a family-oriented web site). We hung around for about an hour hoping the cloud would leave, but it was not to be.

We left the sugar loaf and hopped in a cab just before a MASSIVE thunderstorm rolled in. Now you may question why I didn't go back again on another day. It's an expensive ticket and I had already seen an amazing view from the statue as it was. So I can accept that the loaf will have "been there, done that" status and can sleep at night.
