When you do a lot of running around the city trying to see and do everything, you really appreciate some downtime. We spent a couple of days in Cabo Frio, which is a resort town somewhere northeast of Rio. The two hour drive was the first real time that the sun was out for any appreciable period of time. On the drive alone, I developed a nasty sunburn. You'll see in the pictures just how red I became. And for the record, I was wearing sunscreen.
An interesting thing I learned while there is that there are no parking meters in Brazil. Rather they have people who fill out a form and take the fee from you. As it was explained to me, a job is a job, so why let a machine do what a person can?
You really have to go there to appreciate just how BLUE the water really is. I went to the beach and took a boat tour while I was there. I also wandered around and saw some rather interesting things.
