Louis Stone's European Vacation

While Grenoble is a beautiful city, it is hard to spend more than a day wandering around it.  So it was time for a ROAD TRIP.  We hopped in the Mintmobile and drove to Voiron.  We tried to go to Fort St. Eynard but the awesome power of the Twingo was no match for the small patch of two-inch deep snow that stood between the us and the edifice.

We thought it would be neat to check out the Chartreuse Distillery while in Voiron.  Chartruese is a liquor made by monks to support their monastery.  It is potent stuff that tastes like a minty Nyquil and packs 110 proof. I was amazed at the technical ability of these monks.  They showed us a movie before we began our tour and in it you see one of the monks using a computer to evaluate the booze.  It was about this point that I met the first rude person in France.  Sooah and I were the only ones who were at the tour on time.  We requested the English tape so that I could understand it.  Latecomers arrived as my tape was nearly finished and the tour guide came in and abruptly removed the tape and switched to French.  They would later show a 3-D movie (monks in 3D?) showing the origins of the distillery which would have made a hell of a lot more sense had I been given the opportunity to see it in my native tongue.  She gave me an English language pamphlet.  I only took one picture out of fear of the yellow-coated tour guide.
